Through seven exhibitions, two of which in public spaces, BIP2012 will explore the theme of “Images of Love, Love of the Image”.

The main exhibition “Only You Only Me” will take over the whole Mamac with a monumental projection of Nan Goldin ‘s The Ballad of Sexual Dependency. Several other great names will also be included in the Mamac show, including Erwin Olaf , J.H. Engström , Eric Rondepierre , Elina Brotherus , Jason Lazarus  and many others.
At each Biennale, a different country is invited as “guest of honour” to present a selection of its artists,  thus providing a unique opportunity of studying in greater depth the work of that country’s artists. This year it’s Holland’s turn, with the exhibition “From Holland With Love” (yes, this is the best title they could come up with). The exhibition will feature the work of artists such as Useful Photography and Koos Breukel , around the mentoring figure of Ed van der Elsken and it’s organized under the supervision of Frits Gierstberg, Principal Curator at the Nederlands Fotomuseum  in Rotterdam.

The “RUMEURS / RUMOURS” exhibitionwill take place at the MADmusée and it will feature the work of Miroslav Tichy, Morton Bartlett, Lee Goodie and Loulou.
Other exhibitions include “NEXT OF (S)KIN / A FLEUR DE PEAU”, built around the theme of “close ties” and “AMOUR AU PLURIEL / LOVE IN PLURAL & ADORATION” presented by La Châtaigneraie – the Walloon Centre of Contemporary Art.

Finally there is also going to be a public dialogue bteween the French video director Sylvie Blocher  and the Swedish photographer JH Engström , organised at l’ESAL – The Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Liège.

Around 15 OFF exhibitions will also happen. Pretty intense program, eh?! Definitely worth visiting.
