Nozems op de Nieuwendijk Amsterdam 1960 Hans Pelgrom Photography

Hans Pelgrom trained at the Institute for Applied Art Education in Amsterdam, where one of his teachers was the photographer Jaap d'Oliveira. On completing his studies in 1960, he went into business as a freelance photographer, specialising in fashion and commercial photography. His fashion pictures were published in magazines including Libelle, Elegance, Panorama and Nieuwe Revue. Other commissions came from the Prad advertising agency and the container manufacturer Sea Land.

In May 1969 Pelgrom set up the Pinpoint Partner Photo Agency. Oscar van Alphen, Koen Wessing, Philip Mechanicus and Martin Neumann were among the photographers who worked for Pinpoint.

In about 1974 Pelgrom moved to New York, where he worked for Harper's Bazaar and Saks Fifth Avenue. He died there on December 26 1980.
