United in diversity – European Attitudes
“United in diversity – European Attitudes” will shed light on European identity through a joint photographic and scenographic project. The Franco-Belgian artistic “tandem” is made up of the Dutch photographers Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek (Exactitudes) and the French scenographer Olivier Boisson (Nawak et Ventilo) and was formed following a proposal by Caroline Siobhan Ryan (PiArt). This encounter will produce a series of 6 photographic works, revealing the faces of European citizenship.
“Entertaining and citizen-friendly, the event will be held at three locations, all strong symbols of Europe and mobility: in Rotterdam Centraal station, in Paris Nord station and on Thalys trains. Over a six-week period, passengers and other members of the public will be invited to have their photographs taken in the stations. From this artistic encounter with the public, a series of six photographic works will be created, revealing the multiple faces of European identity. They will be featured in a special display on the “lamination” of a Thalys train, which will circulate around Europe from 13th October to 31st December 2008”.
